Meat prices are too high, I can turn a $1 round of .308 into 100+ lbs of meat.

What animal(s) would you like me to bag /ck/?

An average deer is 50+ lbs of boneless venison meat.
c = $2000/(50lbs * n); where n is the number of deer, c is average cost per pound.
OR
$2000 = n(c * 50lbs ); where n is the number of deer, and c is cost per pound for comparison says you'll need to take 8 deer to break even on your rifle and gear, assuming meat costs of $5/lb for good roast chuck.

Even ignoring the cost of the gun, that sounds like at least 8 days of work, probably more. Not that I get paid hourly but if we pretend for a minute that I do, that's like $570 per deer in "labor" cost, or about $11 a pound. So... $16 a pound total? I guess that's not bad if you like the taste of prions.

Now, I get it, you think it's fun to get lyme disease ticks and dodge bullets from other hunters, but there are other things I'd rather do in my time off (like shitpost on an anonymous north korean tattoo forum, obviously)

Assuming average deer of 120 lbs, that's 2 hours including field dressing and really tryin to wring it out.
I'll only get 1/3 as venison roast, but I'll have plenty of good bits to grind into burgers.
As for the hunt itself, that's rarely over an hour for me. I'm a lucky duck.
Most I've done is 4 deer in a day, I was actually with a buddy. We got 7 total.
Got back and started drinkin beers about 3, and by 7 all the meat was vacuum packed.

I'm at $550 for the initial cost and we can say 200 a year after for hunting permits ammo and upkeep.
