The brain is 60 percent cholesterol. Eating more cholesterol actually helped improve my mental health over the long term. If this is what an impending heart attack feels like sign me up. I'd rather die of a heart attack than live with crippling anxiety and depression.

Though i don't eat keto. The rule is if I don't bake the carbs myself (or a loved one bakes them) from as scratch as possible then I don't eat them. Many of my carb recipes take multiple days to prepare so gorging on them is a bad idea, I'd rather make money off them if I make a large enough batch.

Proper blood lipid analysis in is still in it's infancy. It's a bit more complex than just the distribution of the density of your lipoprotiens. For example: you need to order a blood test that also checks the types of LDL you have. I believe it's glycated LDL is the bad type of ldl. Then of course there is research showing high triglyceride levels are much more indicative of cardiovascular disease than LDL.

I do know that I was finally able to donate blood recently after being rejected for low iron when I was a vegetarian. I tested on the upper end of normal.

Go figure, eating liver and onions the day before donating improved my blood mineral levels better than spinach, seeds and legumes.

The year I started I'd keep to daily 20g while also checking ketone and glucose levels daily. Early on my third year I'd even go up to 50g but still fall within 1.0-1.5 millimole ratio of blood ketones while my glucose still being under 100. This is my 4th year and I've stopped tracking ketone levels (strips are expensive anyway). Now I only check my glucose levels but they're always in check. You could conclusively show me that ketosis is somehow bad for humans (which no one ever has btw) and I'd probably still practice it in all honesty. The mental, physical and even emotional benefits this lifestyle has given me are undeniable. Most of my meals are animal-based due to convenience (don't really have to track carbs really) so I'd be surprised if I were to hit 20 net daily carbs.

>laws of thermodynamics
That is true, but you also need to take into consideration that your body is not an engine, it has many enzymes, genes that produce those enzymes in certain amounts, and hormones that moderate the expression of those genes. Your body can absorb more or less calories depending on efficiency of the microvilli, thus affecting calories in. Your body can change non-exercise thermogenesis, cell replenishment rate, hair growth, nail growth, digestion rate, etc. to affect calories out. If you could calculate all of those things, then yes, CICO is law, but you can't, because that is impractical. What you eat, how much, how often, your genetics, your epigenetics (long term food decisions), and your hormonal states all affect how much weight you carry. You sound like you have benefited from a number of these, I have too, but it is not as simple as "eat less, move more." If that were true, why did we see a massive surge in obesity in the 1970s and not earlier?

>> No.13972445

>>13969756
Do you have a single fact to back that up? You are just saying you need things without any basis. Why grains? Why fruit? What do they offer that is not found in the others?

>> No.13972636

>>13972418
> it is not as simple as "eat less, move more."

But literally nothing you have said makes that statement wrong. If someone puts less food in their mouth and exercises more they WILL lose weight.

All you said is that 100 calories for one person might affect them differently than 100 calories for another person, depending on many complicated factors. As a simple example, if both people need 5cals to stay at X weight, but person A can eat 20cals of food and only "digest" 5cals, while person B can only eat 5cals of food to "digest" 5cals, then person A needs to eat 20cals and person B needs to eat 5cals to stay at X weight.

Person B might want to put more than 5cals of food in their mouth, but they don't NEED to any more than Person A needs to put in more than 20cals.

To be less fat, eat less and move more. Don't eat X because someone else did and they lost weight; eat less than you are currently eating. Continue to eat less than you are currently eating until you reach the equilibrium weight that you want.

Never claimed that plants made me sick. I said I couldn't donate blood and had a kidney infection when I was a vegetarian. If anything, I am saying that I need meat and offal -in addition- to plants and fungi in my diet.

And I would be a horrible candidate as a shill for large scale animal ag. I am completely against modern industrial practices. I want giant mega agri-cooperation's to die, I wan't to only eat food I produce myself or is produced by my loved ones. I plan on keeping a wide variety of different animal species of only the hardiest heritage breeding outdoors for way more than just their meat, milk, and eggs. I will be using my livestock to improve the environment, starting with the health of soil. There's no way in hell I would dish out the kind of money the modern "conventional" farmer does for intensive mechanized housing, medicine, waste management, or feed/feed additives. That's too much money.

I don't give a shit what people eat. I will happily sell fruit and veg from my market garden to vegans and omnivores alike.

But now take into consideration categories of food, such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Now if person 1 doesn't digest carbs efficiently and remains highly insulin sensitive, then they can eat more carbs. If person 2 is the opposite, then they need to eat less, as the carbs will be more damaging. They may be able to eat the same amount of calories, but person two needs to eat fewer carbs, not less in general. That is where your error is. It isn't as simple as eat less move more.
