>Europoors
>Knowing jack shit about grilling or BBQ
If you weren't such a dumbass you'd know that you don't have to sauce ribs, or that ribs tend to be a tougher cut of meat that require longer cooking times at lower temperatures, but please do go on, tell us how your oven broiler counts as grilling.

Is American bbq sweet? genuine question, I've never tasted it, but from the recipes I see online I see a lot of sugary coatings, won't that make the meat sweet?

When asking about American barbecue, it's better to specifiy by state rater than "american." Most of the Southern states (where BBQ is from) have their own unique takes on it. What OP posted, and what most people think of, are slow-cooked ribs with a sweet, tomato-based sauce applied late in the cooking process and then at the table. These ribs are from the western South, like Missouri. Along the East Coast you get the same kind of sauce but it's more commonly applied to shredded slow-cooked pork butt. However, in the Carolinas they like to put vinegar-based sauces on their barbecue.

Some places in America only use salt and pepper on their meats, this is where the best BBQ comes from

If you ever find yourself in cinci you NEED to go to montgomery inn. Get yourself a slab of ribs and onion straws as an appetizer. I've had ribs at a lot of places but nothing beats montgomery inn rib king

I went with an electric pellet smoker. It has it's benefits but I kinda want a regular smoker like yours too. Maybe I'll get one when my covidbux arrive. Cheers to my backyard smokerbros

If you have the money I think a pellet smoker is great for a first smoker. Don't have to worry about managing fire and can just focus on making good food

I like my ribs with a bit of Carolina sauce, which is tangy with a slight hint of heat

Yes, the sauce often is sweet. But it goes really well with the smoked flavor of the meat, the salt, and the spiciness(heat).A sweet sauce usually starts with ketchup and a dry rub has lots of brown sugar. Nothing wrong with sweet bbq. Come here and we'll make some for you!

Pork in particular goes pretty well with sweet tastes in my opinion. Pineapple ham, pork chops and apple sauce.
