Went and cooked dinner for this new womanon im seeing and her 2 roommates. they cleaned their plates and ate the leftovers the next day for lunch.

when was the last time you felt genuinely good about your cooking? wish i had got a pic, but we did a ham and pea pasta in a parmesan cream sauce.

it was off the cuff.
quarter stick butter
1/4 onion
5 garlic cloves
two cups diced easter ham
1-2 cups of frozen peas im not sure
small amount of white wine drippings from empty bottles
cup chicken broth
atleast a cup of cream. maybe two
stir in parmesan cheese
boil spaghetti until almost done. transfer pasta to sauce pan and finish together
plate
top with more parmesan cheese

im really stoked about it. i didnt know they wanted me to cook until i got there (im a cook/low level chef for work) and i just had to raid their fridge and pantry. they didnt have dill which would have helped.

Made dinner for the house I was staying at for the first time, shrimp diablo (spicy cream sauce, shrimp, linguine), I fucked up and made it a little too spicy, but everyone in the house loved it enough despite that that the massive pot I'd made was cleaned out in a single night.
That was about 8 months ago, shit happened, life fell apart, I haven't been able to cook much past microwave meals in a while. Feels bad man.

Good thread topic, desu. I'm amazed you found all of this >>13937720 in a female and her roomates' pantry, but I will suspend my disbelief.

I'm not much of a cook, and I eat a relatively spartan (especially now) diet unless I have people over or staying with me. That being said, I had a friend over here last month visiting and I made some ribs with some bullshit throw together rub with what I had on hand and seared the balls off of them, then cooked those fuckers low and slow and made some home made mashed potatoes which, while good, aren't life altering. That, plus some throw together texas toast style stuff with some bread I had sitting around. He went fucking nuts.

He's a city guy and mainly eats out so he's not used to homemade food. I had him help me a bit to get him used to the kitchen, etc. Again, I'm a bachelor bullshit cook. But it was a hearty, homemade meal that we had while drinking and bullshitting and I guess he missed all facets of that type of meal.

It was a rewarding feeling. It's easy to forget how some people may not have or take advantage of the opportunity to cook frequently like I do. /blog
