>visiting Europe last summer
>go to restaurant for dinner

Is this common in Europe? Even fast food places have ice, in the US

>> No.13934157

ice served in drinks is rather unusual here in germany. but its chilled most of the time.

Amerilard here, I drink my water lukewarm. You're just used to it being cold, but warm is just as good, and easier.

This is the strangest thing to me. I am a burger and I only ever drink coffee and room temperature water. Even back when I used to drink soda I would drink it either room temperature or just refrigerated, never with ice. But other burgers make a huge deal out of the fact that "those Europeans" drink stuff without ice. They're appalled and offended by it for some reason, they literally cannot comprehend drinking something at room temperature. I hate my country and I wish every day that I had been born in the first world.

I remember reading an article somewhere that in many parts of Europe, ice is a luxury item. Apparently few people own freezers. Since most people dont have access to ice, restaurants don't see a need in owning ice makers.

Yes. I've read that many Europeans can't afford such appliances.
