I can't find truffles anywhere so I have order it online? What's the best place?

And what's a good recipe that uses truffles?

you gotta be careful with that, most truffle products are artificially flavored. there’s a couple brands on amazon that are real, always read the fine print.

I put it in everything, sliced truffles are great in pasta and truffle salt is perfect on eggs and steak

i think its cheaper to get on a flight to italy and pick one out yourself

I wouldn't order anything gourmet or relatively expensive off Amazon. So many QA and fraud issues on that platform.

I'm thinking of buying an actual truffle. Can those be faked?

gotta love the tiny little 150ml bottles of truffle oil that cost 13usd, then you look at the ingredients and it's just artificially flavored olive oil. does genuine truffle oil even exist?

If I had fresh truffles, id do something really simple and let the truffle be the star of the dish.

Use fresh pasta. If you are using truffles, you should use the best pasta you can. Boil your pasta. In a frying pan over a gentle heat make a butter emulsion by whisking together butter and some of the pasta cooking water until it forms a nice glossy sauce. Add the pasta back, add some parmesan, grated truffle, salt and pepper.

Serve with a full bodied chardonnay. Sit in the sun, eat your pasta, drink your wine and feel peace.

Yeah. There are truffles that aren't really the rare and distinctively flavored truffle that people think of when they think of truffles. They're commonly referred to as Chinese truffles. You can receive this inferior product as-is, or you can receive them with artificially enhanced flavor. Either way, they're not usually what a person is looking for when they're looking for a truffle (which is Perigord Black).
