I'm not great at cooking, I don't have a lot of dishes I can make from memory and they are usually simple. But there are loads of things I want to try making, different techniques I want to try, cuisines to explore, and single dishes to experiment with more often. All that is so overwhelming. Anyone else feel that way? How do you manage it?

just make whatever. you're gonna have like a hundred meals in the next month

>> No.13904248

I just plan for two new recipes every week. The other days I make something I know but I try to make it better. It takes a while to build a library of knowledge about cooking. The best thing you can do is learn technique, try recipes from other people, and then develop your own.

Same as with all my dreams. I throw them on the backburner and spend all my time doing nothing.

read a cookbook wtf, everybody on this useless board seems to forget about the existence of cookbooks

Probably the same way you manage learning any other skill, doofus. You don't make a masterpiece the first time you sit down in front of a blank canvas, and you don't play a concerto your first time at a piano.

Do adults really need to be told how to learn?

>middle eastern food
Don’t do this op, it’s easiest not to stray from your ethnic groups food. I only cook food my grandma could have reasonably known how to make

don't listen to this retard

cookbooks are important and you really can't call yourself a cook if you don't have a collection of them

>I’m so multicultural
Shut your trap fag. You shouldn’t have more than one or two. They aren’t really necessary at all, especially when you can look up anything or just ask a family member.

why should you have to ask your family members for help? are you a pathetic neet that lives at home? Any professional chef will tell you that cookbooks are fun and essential. Nobody gives a fuck what kind of fun spin your grandma plays on a hurgin recipe. Stick to eating corn dogs and cheerios and let the rest of us cook.

>why should I interact with my family
Idk, maybe it’s part of being a good person? When I call my mom/grandma I like to talk about cooking stuff. Sorry for speaking with my family I guess

Cool that it works for you but your grandmother has literally zero culinary renown or credibility. To decry cookbooks as pointlessly multicultural and say that "you should just ask a family member" is stupid. None of your flyover family members are going to know how to cook anything either and your entire lineage is going to be filled with fat gay retards who don't know anything that wasn't handed down by their fat gay grandparents.

I'm so lost when it comes to cookbooks, and I know a few languages, which makes it worse since I'd rather buy, say, a Japanese cookbook written in Japanese than in English.
