I'm not great at cooking, I don't have a lot of dishes I can make from memory and they are usually simple. But there are loads of things I want to try making, different techniques I want to try, cuisines to explore, and single dishes to experiment with more often. All that is so overwhelming. Anyone else feel that way? How do you manage it?

I just plan for two new recipes every week. The other days I make something I know but I try to make it better. It takes a while to build a library of knowledge about cooking. The best thing you can do is learn technique, try recipes from other people, and then develop your own.

I'm so lost when it comes to cookbooks, and I know a few languages, which makes it worse since I'd rather buy, say, a Japanese cookbook written in Japanese than in English.
