I think I remember my parents buying tons of these boxes when they were on sale, don't even remember the store, but I think it was around the late 90s - by then they were probably being discontinued, we ate a little over the years, I finally finished the last one I was saving a few years ago, a bit crusty but so delicious.

I wonder if they were discontinued because of the politically incorrect name, or it was just too weird, or if it was too unhealthy?

I guess I could learn to make something similar, or even better. If they make it again there will probably be more palm oil...

The purple nougat is the tricky part, sour jelly beans are available plenty of places, and I can melt dark chocolate which would taste even better in contrast.

Maybe use salt to keep its shape.

I grew up with use of Mandarin Orange Peels, usually doesn't keep its colour, but the Tangerine ones looks more colourful.

People use to use apples to make doll heads, you can keep one if you dehydrate properly, but it would look mummy like.

Eat something with potassium (bananas, potatoes). I won't say, don't feel that way, or that there is no reason to feel that way, now of all times, but just focus on doing what you can do to make the best of the situation even if it's a crappy one..

Whatever sunlight you get at home, spend more time under it. Next time you go out for grocery buy some green onions and grow the ends in soil, seeing fresh greens at home grow and then being able to eat them helps me to feel less trapped.
