There's thousands of banana varieties out there depending on your country, but where I grew up the short stubby ones were always called apple bananas.

As far as I know mini bananas still taste like the Gros michel cultivar that was the most common type of banana until Panama disease wiped out most of the big farms. It's what banana candy tastes like.

yeah I understand that, I thought they were shorter and chubbier like OPs bananas. I'd like to try the sweeter variety but I do like modern bananas alright. why is there only ever one type of banana in the US where we get lots of varieties of potatoes, apples, anything really
