I cooked only traditional food 99% of the time and none of the dishes use garlic. Friends also joke about it and say it's like they are visiting the countryside whenever I end up cooking for us. Currently trying to expand into new meals. Also had my first burger just 2 months ago.

If you burn it or grate it, garlic has a sharp bitterness that's almost like a weak horseradish. Obviously, you're not supposed to do either — garlic is a sweet allium, and tastes somewhere between nut and funk. If you've had raw onion, raw garlic is quite similar. If you've had cooked (but not caramelized) onion, cooked garlic is similar but not as sweet, and has a more complex flavor overall.

Describing the taste of garlic is like describing the taste of an onion, it’s kinda really hard to do. That’s why most people use “garlicky” as an adjective, because how the fuck else do you describe it?
