So I ended up buying one of these in a brain fog while corona buying but I now realize I don’t know what the fuck to do with it...

Any recipes? How to make a good pasta sauce? Anything?

You uh...literally just add a halved onion into it, some butter, and stir the tomatos for an hour and that’s it?

yup, at that point you just add whatever you want to it. make sure you crush the tomatoes or pulse them with a blender a bit. last time that thread was posted some anon just threw whole tomatoes in. I'm sure you could use the spoon and do it in the pot later but it will be more difficult.

Mash em, add chicken, beans, corn, and broth. Slow cook for 4 hours, add tortilla, chicken tortilla soup.

Don't use that recipe, it's shit.

That one is extremely basic, but it's a start. You can add other herbs and aromatics if you want, but san marzanos are very flavorful on their own. Also, if you have an immersion (stick) blender on hand, you may prefer a smooth sauce as opposed to chunky.

Dice onion, cellery, carrot. Fry on low heat.
Add minced beef, max heat until water is gone.
Dump in can of tomatoes. Add tomato paste, wine, garlic, whatever herbs you like, salt, pepper.
Add half a can of water. Cover and cook on lowest possible heat until you're so mad that you haven't eaten dinner yet that you don't care that it's not done.
Serve over pasta with cheese.

Black beans would work best. This is an atrocious waste of San marzano tomatoes tho. They are meant to be the star.

I don't know that brand, but good san marzanos taste so good, you could practically just heat the up and eat them plain, so you really don't have to do a lot with them. Salt, pepper, oil and/or butter, maybe a bit of garlic, reduce the water content and finito.
