whats surprising about it?

Nearly all freshwater fish taste the same, just different texture/firmness. when you eat perch/bluegill/walleye you're just tasting the seasonings/breading mostly. that said, a 10lb walleye will taste more fishy than a 1lb walleye due to higher fat content

>> No.13721463

>>13721368
Those are two different kinds of fish. There are no walleye in Alaska. It's Pollock. Walleye is a freshwater fish.

This is hard to find because it is very slow growing and was being overfished for awhile. I've had it and it is good, I'll likely never have it again though

>> No.13721718

OP is missing out if he's never had grilled Norwegian mackerel. There's a few bones, but they're easy to find and pull out and the spine comes cleanly out once cooked, so you're left with two BUTTERY juicy fish fillets. They're amazing. They have a naturally butter flavor because of their oils (which is also why they smell so fishy) and all you really need to season them with is salt and pepper.

I like them, asian style. I like a scoop of rice and some kimchi or some sort of veggie to go with it. I hope you get to try it!
