I typically mash a banana, mix the oats, some cinnamon, raisins and eat it.

t. non-American.

No, it isn't necessary. I routinely eat raw oats with plain whole milk yogurt, sliced banana, and a light drizzle of honey.

>> No.13712788

overnight oats are fashionable, they're not cooked just soaked. raw unsoaked are also fine, just a bit less digestible i guess

I've always just eaten it with milk

>> No.13712801

Nope. I've eaten oats - rolled and flaked - raw with milk for about 45 years.

May add this and that, a favourite being Aus eucalyptus honey, but mostly plain.

Rolled oats are already cooked. Whole oats will break your teeth if you try eating them raw.

I had eucalyptus honey in greece and it's fucking based!

What.a blessed thread, I just cooked some oats and never get them right, theyre always slimy and gelatinous after theyre cooled off.I tried soaking them with a bit of lemon jhice cause I read it gets rid of some antinutrients or something like that but it still is gelatinous, albeit a bit better tasting.I cook them in milk and bring it to a boil, should I cook them in water?

>> No.13713896

Rolled oats have already been technically cooked, but I get a stomachache if I eat them without further cooking.

>> No.13714209

rolled and quick-cooking, nah. i eat uncooked rolled oats with some sweetened coconut flakes, raisins, and almond milk all the time.
steel cut, yeah you're gonn probably need to cook them

How about those 100 calorie Quaker packets of plain, instant oatmeal? I fucking boiled them over AGAIN in the microwave. I am so sick and tired of this happening. Ruins the oatmeal eating experience for me.

>> No.13715009

Doesn't that burn the milk? If you are using parboiled oats you shouldn't have to boil them.

You can’t eat oats in it’s raw form. It’s indigestible.

>> No.13715093

those should just be packaged quick cooking oats, so it should be fine to just eat raw.

I was thinking about:

>base
oatmeal
unsweetened soybean milk

>two or three of these
black pepper
sesame
pumpkin seed
rousong

Rousong could be huge on this.

I use steel cut oats and mix them with kefir and quark plus some salt and vanilla powder to make a protein-packed overnight oats. It's very delicious, especially with some granola on top.

I just do it with stock and soy sauce and milk.
Then cook 2 eggs on the side and put in some diced vegetables and spring onion.
Milk might not be for you but I'm to used to it at this point.

Back in my /fit/ days in college, I would just pour milk over rolled oats as if they were cheerios and eat them as is, no cooking. Never had any indigestion or anything, but it's not an especially flavorful meal.

Consider your rate of flatulence. It can be moderated by cooking your oats in the future.
