electric kettles seem unclean to me, simple as that. Even if you find one with metal interior I still think plastic is leeching in from the casing.

I'm simply not interested, I know boiling water in a clean mug works and is fresh, so that is what I do to make tea.

You would microwave your water too, if you went through the trouble of learning its efficiency.
A kettle can only bring water to boiling. A microwave (with some quick tests) can bring a set volume of water in a set vessel to a precise temperature within 1-2 degrees. For a nation of tea snobs, I'm alarmed the british are this sloppy about their water temperature for different types of tea.

>> No.13706389

>>13706384
There are kettles that do that more precisely.

>> No.13706390

>>13706389
And yet, with naught but a mug, a set of measuring cups, and an instant read thermometer, I was able to determine the precise number of seconds in any season to heat a mug of water to a precise temperature for my favored teas. (usually 90, 100, or 110 seconds plus or minus five seconds depending on the season).

>> No.13706633

>>13706390
now I just have to measure the air pressure, temperature, and humidity and then pull out the old microwave almanac and figure out how many seconds my 1200 watt microwave takes to heat a mug of water to exactly 90 degrees

>> No.13706644

>>13706390
If you want to make tea, coffee, or anything else that uses hot water for more than one person, it will take longer than that, need a larger vessel, and be hot and unwieldy. My electric kettle heats up a liter of 175ºF water in 3 minutes, keeps a cool handle, beeps when ready, has a stay warm function to keep at the temperature you need for as long as you need it, and doesn't require you to waste time figuring out the precise timing for heating water in each season of the year. Of course, /ck/ NEETS cannot imagine making more than one cup of tea at a time.

They likely don't even know what a electric kettle is.

I mean we got the microwave, stove top kettle, coffee makers can be used to make hot water and even instant filtered hot water tap units. Electric kettles seem like some kind of middle ground given how many options we already have and they are not well known.

Electric kettle are not typically sold in the stores. I didn't know they were even a thing till I saw one at a friends house, and they only hunted one down after a trip to Europe. I actually blurted out loud given how amazing such a simple thing was, it blew my mind then I felt like an idiot for a bit.

I still microwave my water, but that has more to do with space restrictions of the very tiny place I live. And I avoid specialized devices as they can rack up costs quickly. I was planning on buying one once I have more room as it is a nice thing to have, but later found I could get a instant in sink hot water maker instead.

Also we don't know the difference in quality. So we buy the cheaper plastic ones cause only a fool spends more then they have to. Then scream that such tech is junk when it melts and took half an hour to boil a pot, never thinking to try a nicer glass and metal one.

>Of course the correct answer is burning Hydrogen and Oxygen from high pressure feed lines, make hot water using the same tech as American space shuttle!
