>make stock
>proof yeast in stock
>use bready-tasting stock for soup
Is this dumb or could it actually work?

>> No.13698903

Why would you want that

Salt can slow yeast growth or even kill it, it'd be safest to either proof it in a small amount of water, or at least use low sodium stock and add your own salt. Otherwise it should work.
But why?

Yeast tastes like a yeast infected cunny unless it ferments out in bread or alcoholic beverages. If either of those taste like yeast you screwed up.

>> No.13698943

if you want your soup to taste like bread, I really think it's easier to cut (rye)bread in small cubes, dry (&crush?) it and add while cooking

>> No.13698954

why not use the stock as your liquid for dough tho

What if it had added sugar from tomatoes? I'd wager it could ferment then, though it'd still probably taste like yeast, not dough

>tomatoes
they're also acidic.

Yeah it'll work but make sure you boil it again before consuming or the active yeast could give you gas/diarrhea. They sell nutritional yeast for flavoring though, it probably has a better flavor for that kind of stuff than bread yeast.

There's this Japanese chick on youtube who urns everything into some type of bread. So I'm pretty sure it might work. Try it out then post results.

Why would you want fizzy soup or soupy bread?

just buy yeast flakes if you want the yeasty flavor, not sure how well it will dissolve in water tho but should be fine.

Yeast tastes like rotten assholes. Thats why you attenuate it out while proofing.

When I make pizza dough at home I bloom my yeast in water with honey instead of sugar.

It makes the dough taste a bit of honey. You cant really tell its honey but you know its different.

>eating live yeast
do you want to have a literal yeast infection? I used to make a lot of bread home made when I had a home of my own, you can easily consume live yeast if you undercook bread, trust me it takes for freaking ever to get rid of that in your body.
