trash food your parents always make but you hate

"chicken fajitas"
throw some frozen peppers and onions, a 2 or 3 chicken breasts into an instant pot
done now add some flour tortillas, sour cream, shredded cheese, and hot sauce and your done literally zero effort in making it and you can taste that lack of effort

My mom would always make this disgusting ass pasta dish where the sauce was a can of cream of mushroom soup, some ground beef, and some frozen corn. God that was fucking terrible.

>mom dont like anything "spicy"

Stayed over at my mom's for the holidays one time. She made eggs for breakfast and thought they were bland as shit. Asked if it had anything in them. "They're plain eggs, salt is bad for you and I think [black] pepper is too spicy".

The sad thing is that she's an amazing baker, but she is pathologically incapable of cooking meals. I grew up basically unwilling to eat unprocessed red meat because she'd cook every roast/steak/pork chop to the point I literally could not swallow it, it was like chewing bubblegum.

Salad as a meal.

Dry ass Hummus with just chickpeas, tahini, and lemon juice. No olive oil. No extra spices. I'm sure /ck/ can imagine how bad that was.

Nachos baked in the oven until the cheese melts, the chips are burnt, and the toppings which should have remained raw are roasted.

Stir-fry with too many ingredients, cut into non-uniform pieces which cook unevenly and don't taste good together.

Thai food. Yuck.

>> No.13691983

>>13691976
try it with a packet of premade fajita seasoning at the very least. you can either cook it until the chicken shreds or you can slice the chicken up and cook it for less time so it's not all mush. also don't ever add corn to that shit. I get sick of beef taco meat and the chicken fajita meat is good enough I can eat it out of the fridge cold.

Why are you giving him recipe advice? If the entire thing was made properly he wouldn't have put it in quotation marks.

I'm pretty sure the person you are arguing with knows what a fajita is and how to make one, the fact that his parents did it wrong is the complaint.

Honestly, take away the peppers and add spices, and garlic you can have a pretty banging taco base. Fry up the shredded chicken and fresh peppers in a pan with some chipotle spice and you will have a great taco base.

Not that anon but this thread concerns OP's criticism of his parent's garbage food. Whether he lives with his parents or not shouldn't be a factor so I'm not sure why you're trying to make it one. He never claimed that, anyway. Both his parent's recipe and yours sounds like it would be absolute shit anyway lmfao. Go shove your seasoning packet up your ass, tastelet.

Mom would make these super dry hockey puck tuna cakes that were just tuna and flour mixed together and baked.. Bean and ham soup with no salt, everything was low fat or low sodium (80's nutrition advice) My brother and I (late 30's) laugh recounting the food that we had to finish or sleep on kitchen table (cant leave).. Hmm 1% milk to teenagers starved of animal fats. I am 5'9" prob would be 6+ if I had eaten properly. Now my 3 kids get grass fed steak and butter. If you eat at my place you better like heavy foods. I make mashed potatoes that was near 30% butter haha. But I listen to my kids and if they do not like something I change the menu to what they like, while also being calorie dense, kids are still skinny so trying to fatten them up a bit.

mom cooked like shit
don't know why, all she did was sit on her ass all day when she wasn't out spending all of my dad's money on makeup products and clothing she wore ONCE
didn't bother to learn to enjoy cooking and wondered why we all preferred fast food
ever since I moved out, I tried to learn on my own, just like everything else in life
now I cook better than 90% of restaurants
fuck my mom
greedy whore who killed my dad by demoralizing him and gives zero shits about me or my brothers

Spaghetti, sauce tossed together with the noodles, but the noodles were cooked too long and clumped together to form noodle masses
Too much lemon, really needed something to balance out the acidity.
