If your chicken breasts are still frozen when you're actually ready to start cooking then you're a fucking idiot and no tips about thawing them is going to help you from ruining anything you try to cook.

>> No.13643789

drop all of it immediately on deep fry then wait 5 minutes

>> No.13643796

How hard is it to put them in the fridge the day before?

Hell worst case you can sit them out on the counter for ~10 hours.
I go to work at 7:30, i get home around 18:00. If i take out a package of frozen chicken breasts before I leave, they're defrosted by the time I get home.

Pretty simple shit

the two ways to defrost meat properly are:
1) The best way - Take it out of freeze and put it in the fridge the night before you want to use it. Most pieces of meat the size of a chicken breast, steak, pork chops etc will have completely defrosted in 24 hours. Whole chickens, pork/beef roasts etc will take 1.5 to 2 days
2) The quick way - Submerge in a bowl of cold water, and replace the water every 15 minutes. Do NOT use hot or lukewarm water, and don't forget to replace the water every 15 minutesor the temperature can rise up to the point where bacteria will start to bloom. Unstick any pieces frozen together to ensure proper defrosting. It shouldn't take more than an hour, hour and a half at most.

A note for before freezing, separate the pieces into individual servings before you freeze (assuming they aren't bought frozen) so you aren't defrosting 2 pounds of chicken at a time.
If you are doing mince/ground meat then you should double bag it in case the water leaks in, you don't want soggy ground meat, it's a pain to deal with. Meatballs as well, because defrosting can lead to them getting mushy.

Remove from packaging amd place into plastoc bag. Submerge in warm water for 30-60 minutes. Use immediately.

>> No.13643826

Can use a metal tray/pan to speed up the process. Works like a heat sink in reverse.

>> No.13643835

>>13643826
Yup, also your oven might work too, my oven has a metal body and metal top, so it acts as a giant heatsink when something is defrosting on top.

>> No.13643854

>>13643821
to add to this, break up the chicken into its individual pieces or if you want it to defrost even faster you can cut it up into small chunks. remove all the air out of the bag you're sticking them in to guarantee full contact of the meat with the water on the other side of the plastic.

don't even need warm water, can do it with cold water.

As it has been said, the best way is to put it in the fridge overnight.

Although, when I haven’t got all day or I when I decide to cook something atm, I use defrost option on a microwave. Mine has a weight setting which calculates optimal time. However, it’s not precise and it depends on thickness or how the meat is clumped together. If you microwave it for an additional time, be careful as it may end up half cooked.

Lmao, unless your house is 75f+ inside, you'll have no problems.

Hell half the time I come home and the center of the breasts are still slightly frozen

I've been doing this once or twice a week for 15+ years

This is an american site, as much as you might not want it to be.

75f+ would be stupidly hot for an american home, we all have AC units or HVAC systems.

My home is set to 67f, anything higher than that would be a bit unusual. At MOST i'd expect 70-72f for an interior house temp.

Obviously if you're 3rd world and your house is gonna be 75f+ 24/7, don't leave raw meat out.

Boil it before you cook it.
If that doesn't work, throw it on the ground until it shatters, then the smaller pieces will thaw faster. Any dirt or debris from the ground will actually help it thaw faster, and in addition all those germs cook off later!
