>> No.13640241

That's not chile con carne. There's clearly beans. "Chile con carne" means chili pepper with meat. There is no mention of beans. The beans have to be cooked separately and added as a garnish. Otherwise it's a totally different dish. It's a beef and bean stew at that point.

In my part of Texas, if you go about whining about beans in chili, people are going to think you're some kind of pathetic little snowflake who can't handle real life.

And the cook might punch you in the mouth.

If you don't like the chili that someone else made, then make your own chili instead of whining incessantly.

Are you by chance ESL? Its no biggie, but a tip- in America we just call it "chili", which is automatically known to be an arrangement of meat, beans, and spices. Calling it "chili con carne" here is redundant and may be confusing to some. Just a heads up!

>> No.13644069

>>13644059
Salmon and bananas are not comparable. Beans and meat are both a protein, if you're not vegan and you're eating chili, wouldn't you rather sacrifice the beans for more meat? Beans are filler in chili.

Typically, I have no qualms about it, but I realized this when I started buying canned chili, the bean variety has almost NO meat in it....it's mostsly sauce and beans, it's very starchy, not so pleasant to eat.

Beans are okay if there is still more beans than meat, but in general, places will use beans to skimp on meat because beans are cheaper

>> No.13644077

>>13640193
Yeah, not a fan of beans in chili. Thats how my grandparents use to cook it only because they were too poor to add a lot of meat. they just used the beans as "filler."

I went to a friends bbq and his mom made REAL chili that was all ground beef and it was amazing.

Why would you put onions in a curry when you could have more meat?
Why would you put mushrooms or peppers on a pizza when you could have more meat?
Why would you put toppings on a hot dog when you could just have more meat?

Do you not see how dumb what you're saying is? Beans add a texture and flavour to the dish. It's nice. Having one uniform mass of meat isn't objectively better. You don't have to pick just one thing, you can have both. And for most people, as has been decided in the court of public opinion, having both meat and beans is preferred. For obvious reasons.
