So many over-the-counter places (basically all coffee shops that aren't sbux and every new fast food shop that isn't already a big chain) are using tip screens for credit cards that I always carry cash on me just to avoid making the manual choice of "0%" when I sign for my purchase.
The cashiers always get upset when the computer tells them they got no tip, but don't seem to give much of a fuck if I pay in cash and don't tip on top.

I always tip $1 at restaurants no matter how expensive the meal. I always do it at the register when it asks me if I want to tip. It pops up on their screen and they have to look at it, then hand me the receipt while holding a smile despite getting only a single dollar. It makes them internally seethe and they will most likely post about it on social media. But the reality is that I'm doing this for them. Relying on tips is archaic. They should be paid minimum wage or above and tipping should be for excellent service only. I would love to see the restaurant owners one day walk in and all their staff had quit because they keep getting $1 tips. FUCK CAPITALISM
