What are fries soaked in vinegar like?

>> No.13613311

Soggy. You want to just spritz them or dip them immediately before eating for the delicious vinegar effect.

Vinegary, like french fries but with vinegar.

Soggy shit
I solved this problem by taking normal salt and putting it in a hot pan while I pour in vinegar or visa versa
Vinegar salt is amazing and lasts forever I still have malt flakes from the last one I did

They taste like french fries soaked in ketchup but with the sweetness removed.

Malt vinegar is made from germinating barley grains then toasting them at low temperatures for a long time. The result is toasty/chocolatey aromas and a slight sweetness. Imagine umami with a hint of sweetness. When it is used in vinegar you lose a lot of that chocolateness and are left with a slight sweetness/aroma that is difficult to describe. Good malt vinegar is aromatic.

If the chips have been cooked until crisp then they are not affected very much by a light sprinkling of vinegar. It doesn't get absorbed much because of a slight glassy exterior.

A lot of chip shops don't do good chips. They are cooked from frozen in old oil and they use potato whitener. They end up soggy and then even soggier with a liberal application of vinegar. Some people like them like that and even put gravy and other sauces on top.

I come from a mediterranean background and chips for me are hand cut fresh, with skin on, twice fried, crispy, with herbs like oregano and a sprinkling of red wine vinegar and sea salt.

If you really want to go wild, take a big mouth full of the vinegar and then stuff a couple of fries in there. It's pretty good but not as good as doing the same thing with chup.
