ive heard that you can make these with other sodas but ive never tried it ive only ever done it with root beer
are other sodas actually any good?

First float I ever had was with coke, but root beer and vanilla ice cream is hands down the best combination.

coke is good, so is orange or grape flavored crush. Dr.Pepper was dissapointing. any other soda will probably be similar, too much foam and not a really good taste.

Dr. Pepper, RC Cola, Big Red

This thread remindes of the Friendly's which was about two blocks from me, they made some damn good floats and malts. Now that it closed the closest one is like 15 miles away.

I do it the opposite of you. Fill with root beer then plop the scoop of ice cream.

>> No.13598410

Coke and ice cream always sounds like something poor people who can't access root beer would do. It's like putting ketchup on spaghetti noodles, a cheap cheap attempt at the correct way to do something.

Now fanta orange and ice cream, that I can get behind.

What if you used vanilla frozen yogurt? Or Sherbert? Or chocolate ice cream? Or birthday cake ice cream and pepsi? Why limit yourself to one path when you could walk thousands. Measure your abilities.

Sure! While you’re at it, why not put peas and cream in your carbonara?

Clearly there's a lot of ideas for replacing the soda, but what about replacing the ice cream? Would a dollop of marshmallow fluff foam up the same way ice cream does in floats?
