Am i crazy? Grass fed beef tastes like fucking shit. Just awful. I tried grass fed steaks from both grocery stores like whole foods and publix and farmers markets from the farmers themselves. Around 5 steaks total

It all tasted the same,Terrible. Extremely gamey, they all tasted like a wild animals asshole. After cooking andnresti g id smell it and the smell would make me gag.

Everyome raves about grass fed. Im sure the nutritional aspects is better but that taste is hard to get over. And ive eaten many, many different animal meats. Grass fed is at the bottom for me and ive even had rat before

My personal meat ranking bets to,worst
Regular fillet mignon cooked rare
Bird
Crocodile
Regular steak
Rat/mouse(surprisingly delicious)
Bacon
Pork belly
Goat
Chicken
Lamb chop
Deer
Snake
Pork chop
Grass fed beef

Grass fed beef is not consistent in taste, so they can be either that awesome steak, or that weird tasting meat.
Suppliers generally would do a taste test, and sell the better tasting variants to whoever they believe deserves it, and/or will openly give no guarantees on taste, and you buy at your own risk (flavour-wise).

>Corn fed
>America
The US doesn't solely finish beef with corn. True Grass fed/finisged, and also grain finished is available. I know that your country isn't used to having choices, but everything sold is available to Americans.

Corn fed does taste better, it’s marbled and fattier/richer. The problem is the cows are typically very unhealthy on a corn fed diet, it’s just unnatural and cruel in lots of ways. They’re also usually fed growth hormones.

I believe this guy has it right >>13554269 in that the cows are fed naturally but then are fattened up before slaughter.

There’s no denying that corn fed tastes better though.

No shit Sherlock. What’s being implied is that only Ameritards would want corn fed garbage because it’s what being shoved down their throat by the corn industry. It’s not wanted anywhere else because other countries aren’t inbred tastelets

>Only Americans
Your just not aware of international practices, and hyperfocal on America while under the assumption that the US is the only meat supplier that commits to these practices.

No one else grows corn or subsidies corn. It’s literally US and Ontario. And as a Canadian we don’t sell Ontario beef (which is minority of beef production) domestically. It’s literally all shipped to the US as export. The only beef you find in Canadian grocers is barley and grass fed Western Canadian beef

In no way is it cruel.
>They’re also usually fed growth hormones.
Somewhat true and should be avoided.

IMO Pasture raised grain finished is the best by far, Grass fed grain finished is pretty decent depending on how the cows are actually fed and raised with decent fat content and flavor. 100% corn fed has good fat content but often muted flavor. If they are just stuck guzzling corn its one of the worst but overall put those on equal footing. Solely grass fed is not good most of the time.

In the end what matters most if how the cow was raised which includes but is not limited solely to diet. so it really comes down to where you get your beef. If you don't get your beef from a local processor or a butcher(I live in rural America and have never been without access to either) you're getting subpar beef.

The US biggest agricultural seller is feed, and the world uses this to feed their livestock.
That authentic wagyu you enjoyed was finished on an ungodly amount of it.

Seems that way. I just wish every si gle one that i got didnt all taste like wild asshole.

Ive found some of the lesser eaten animals taste great. When beef is good its really good however chicken requires copius seasoning to be good otherwise dry and bland, and porkchops for me all have a weird taste, like its cooked but tastes and smells like raw.

Grilled bird and grilled mouse on the other hand was fucking delicious especially done in a spicy way. Ive had raw crocodile thinly sliced and that was amazing.

Goat is good, not bad but not special. Snake is terrible, looks unappetizing barely any meat, you bite and its just a mouthful of bone. Deer and duck is usually pretty gamey but prepared right can be great if alittle chewy.

Only thing ive had that was worst than those grass fed steaks was the time i had dog intestines.

Ive been to many countries which is how ive tried so many of these.
