One stick of butter per noodle. Just push it through the middle of the stick of salted butter (from end to end, not side to side)and repeat until your desired amount of pasta. Because I'm single and cooking for one, I usually avarage 75-80 sticks of butter/pasta per plate. Throw this into a dry pan warmed by hot tap water and enjoy!

I was at a dinner party and the hostess was making spaghetti and I was talking to her in the kitchen and I asked if she was going to put oil in the boiling water and she got really offended and upset for asking. She says you're never supposed to oil noodles because it ruins the starch flavor. Is she right?

Is there a word for this? An action that people just do without even questioning why they might do it? The closest term that I can even think of is tradition.

>1/4 cup olive oil
>low heat as pasta cooks
>1/3 cup starchy pasta water
>drain pasta
>add mixture back in
>toss spaghetti with it till well-coated
Works well enough for my purposes, don't see what the fuss is about.

Honestly Gordon really doesn't seem to be that good of a cook on his episodes. He is unable to cook meat without giving a big bullseye pattern of grey meat. What he calls "colour" when searing meat is a sad paltry grey. He's actually stupid for saying you shouldn't salt the eggs or whisk them before making scrambled eggs. Also many baking videos are kind of sad and lack luster like his Madeline recipe and his chocolate mirror glaze on his cake. Don't get me started on his masterclass ad where he makes a cauliflower dish that looks like it would just taste of cauliflower it when he season his fish and chips with giant flakey salt that just falls off.

I swear to god has nobody heard of pre tossing the pasta with a literal scoop of the sauce. Step one drain pasta, step two put one scoop of sauce on drained pasta; toss, plate and put the desired amount of sauce on top of the plated pasta portion that was pretossed with the sauce. I have no idea why this is still debated. Nothing wrong with adding olive oil or butter to the dry pasta if your doing a pasta dish that isnt centered sauce but the herbs and pasta itself

Enjoy your watery shit pasta sauce Amerifat. A proper Ragu Bolognese is so thick it i more like a paste than a sauce. Like you can heap it on a spoon and flip the spoon 360° without anything falling off.
