Generals turn into circlejerks over time, with injokes, and tripfags. Look at /vg/, or /g/.
If you want to make an ongoing thread about a topic, make a thread. Then you can see if a general is warranted, because most die from lack of interest within a few threads.
It also ruins the spontaneous nature of the board, in my opinion.
