Look, I love sardines and eat them regularly but let’s stop pretending that they arent an intimidating food. They look like shit in the can, have bones, and most people take a deep breath before trying them and wind up saying “ oh wow, that wasn’t what I was expecting. They are actually good.”
Some People have to muster up the courage to look past the appearance and smell to discover the deliciousness of deenz on their own.

Of course you do because you know what to expect. People that have never tried them before are a bit intimidated by them the first time they decide to try them. I was. I never had a sardine until I was like 20 years old, I hated them because they looked bad, smelled bad, and everyone seemed to hunk they were gross. Come to find out they were actually quite delicious and I was wrong. I didn’t grow up around anyone that ate canned sardines.

I've heard that Sardines and other small fish have some kind of toxin in them that builds up as you keep eating them. Is this true?

>> No.13507156

>>13507123
I’m just saying that unless someone can overcome that food intimidation of what they look like and smell like, or has the actual desire to try them then people are intimidated by them. They think they are gross...because they look and smell that way the first time a person opens that can. Most people are also going to buy some cheap sauced brand, not knowing any better. The first sardine I ever ate was boneless and skinless, and it was honestly because I was afraid of the bones mostly. People saying they are soft but crunchy...idk, it freaked me out. I was very surprised and thought they were delicious. I eat them all the time now but yeah...the first time I had no idea if the sardines were as good as people said or if they were going to make me puke.

Mercury. Anything from the ocean is going to have some level of it inside. The longer a fish is in the ocean and the larger it is, the more it will accumulate through eating smaller prey. Deenz are not immune to this, but because they are small and usually have short life spans prior to harvest they are on the safe end of the spectrum.
