Also, you can just look up slow cooker recipes, and do the exact same thing in the instant pot, only with way less time.

But how would you know how much water to put so it doesn't burn, but also doesn't become soupy

That's a really open ended question. You don't put water in every recipe. Do you have something specific in mind?

Stew? Or spaghetti for starters

>> No.13471005

>cook dry beans
>microwave some vegetables
>dump the veggies in with the beans
>grate cheese on top, mix it all together

What I did the other night. Turned out good.

For stew you literally saute some aeromatics, maybe the meat if you have some and then dump all the veggies/beans and broth in and turn it on for 20-30 minutes. That's literally it.

is this or an air fryer worth it if you already have an oven/stove? i usually cook outside (gas/coal/smoker grill) but it's difficult in winter time. i have a crock pot but don't use it very often.

I do hotdogs and Mac n Cheese

Basically put your elbow mac in the pot with your hotdogs and water

Cook the noodles and hotdogs, remove hotdogs and pour shredded cheese in with some milk or heavy cream
Also baby back ribs in 30 minutes.
Put ribs in, put a can or two of coke

Take out and put BBQ on and. You're done

You sound like a working class chump. I bet you thought it would be a great "investment", how you would wake up to a warm, healthy breakfast to start off your long day. Maybe, you even had a couple thoughts about all the other nifty little uses you could find for the thing, how it would help you cook healthier meals in general, shed a couple pounds off the old gut, boost your confidence around work and with the ladies. Yeah, maybe that instant pot would start your life cooking again, wouldn't it? I can see your strained hands holding the box and reading through it carefully at the store. A little bit pricey, but you're the type of guy who thinks everything is more than you can spend, aren't you. And look what happened to you. Look what the slow cooker did to you. Fucked you over, and made you clean it like a useless bitch. You don't even fucking like oatmeal. Piece of shit, you've been repeating those three words your whole life, haven't you. Yeah, how was work after that piece of shit fucked you over? I bet it was on your mind the whole day, you probably didn't say shit to nobody. Can't be telling people about your mistakes. How your little fix yourself plan, failed you. Don't want people to start thinking you're the failure. You're the piece of shit, all along. You don't want that do you? You don't want to be the piece of shit everybody secretly whispers about, do you? Was your father a piece of shit like you? I bet he never had an instant pot. He had a woman, a house, a damn good job. I bet it's slow cooking you the fuck alive, isn't it. Comparing yourself to him. How one day when all the steam runs out of your life, you'll discover how you're nothing more than burnt shit to be scrapped off and thrown in the trash.

>Any "go to" instant pot dump and go recipes? In college and don't have a stove and got one for Christmas
I haven't used mine. It's still in the box from 12 months ago, previous christmas. I already own a pressure cooker (stove top), and a nice oval crockpot. So, I cannot speak to the whole one meal pressure cooker idea, but I think your point is that you wish to have your grain/starch already in your pot with your meat and veggies, am I correct? No stove. No microwave. Set it and forget it!

So, I like a green pozole. Cube up a pork loin including the fat cap and look for the loin that has more of the darker muscle. Or buy a fattier boston butt/pork shoulder. Chop a big onion up. Canned or jarred Herdez green salsa (or another brand as long as you check the label to ensure it's actually tomatillos and not green tomato filler). Can of giant pozole or bush's hominy (drained well-rinsed of packing liquid). Packet of herbox no sodium chicken bouillon and water to cover, or stock (optional). Poblano peppers, optional, chopped. To serve, you can squeeze over some lime, cilantro, sour cream, or nothing at all. The flavor is coming from the really complete flavors in the salsa. It even has a natural tartness, and tortilla flavor from the hominy. Have as soup night 1, ladling a lot of the liquid into the bowl.
Your leftovers can be a burrito filling or served over those stacked already crispy tostadas.

This is like a more effective crockpot. If you dont use a crockpot, its unlikely you'll be maximally using this product.

Also, skip the air fryer. Its only good for fries/motza-sticks, otherwise it'll just dryout. Think about dry meat and rubbery/dry wings.

I had one of those when I was in college as well. It's good at making slow cooker recipes in 1/5th of the time it would normally take. One of my favorite recipes was getting a huge pork shoulder, rubbing it with some spices (paprika, cayenne, chili power, etc) and some brown sugar to make bbq pork. Add some water or stock along with some liquid smoke to give it a more barbequey taste. As a secret ingredient, I like to add some pickle juice to give it a slight tang and better flavor.

I don't have an Instapot brand either but it seems it works about the same ways though how it functions might vary from brand to brand. I did a golden chicken a rice recipe last week that was supposed to cook in 20 minutes and then a natural release. When I went to check on it my chicken and carrots were perfect and my rice was cooked but a bit al dente. Turns out if there is food/seasoning burnt to the bottom of the pot (or not enough water in it) my cooker will continue to cook but not pressurize, something I didn't realize until after I had attempted to cook the rice two more times and then cleaned the pot and did a water test to make sure it was sealing. Instapot will give a burn warning and stop cooking if that happens according to the comments on the mom blog I got the recipe from.

mine arrives in the mail tomorrow.
Can I just toss in frozen vegetables or do they have to be defrosted first?

i put whole frozen chicken breast in there after rinsing them off. put 2 cups of water at the bottom and place on the included steamer rack. Google exactly what it is you're trying to cook in the Instantpot before you do it because the cooking time needs to be just right.

MomAnon here.

>inb4 tits or gtfo

Been on near-obsessively since the Boston Bombings. Yes, I'm an INTJ. I get some good, honest laughs from /b/, love the white knight raids (Jerkin' Joes and the kid who didntknooooo) and think that what was done for Dusty the Cat was an extremely proud moment in the history of 4chan.

Only rarely do I identify myself. It's simply not necessary most of the time. Also don't want to be called attention whore, be flooded with tits or gtfo, or other summer-level bullshit.

I also lurk in /pol/ and /int/. Might have to head over to /fit/ one day, stretch my cables and instant pots suck.
