Stop me from buying this stupid fucking thing
I'm tired of cooking on standard electric

>> No.13454364

You're tired? Go ahead and charge that to your credit card and see how tired you get just trying to pay off the interest

Buy a gas stove instead?

Watch a water boiling comparison. The temperature regulation is super cool, but it's maximum power output isn't great compared to other less expensive options. (From what I remember). If you already have an instant read, a sous vide circular, and a leave in instant read thermometer, then you probably don't need it.

That said, I've been considering it myself for over a year now and might some day break down and get it.

>> No.13454413

>>13454400
Dunno, do you have the skills to make what you want without it? The way I see it, it's more of a convenience for difficult recipes that require precise temperatures but if you're going to just make basic stuff that doesn't need the temperature control, it's just a waste of money.

It's up to you I got a $250 knlife a $12 electric scale.
I use the knife daily and the scale maybe 2 times a month.
But If you bake then get a good scale if you really want it but it's not like it's that much better than a $400 scale I'm guessing.

>> No.13454442

>>13454438
It's an induction top, not a scale, so I'd be using it every time I cook

I would get gas because of the stuff I cook needs to be shaken and the pan tilted a lot.
I wanted to neck myself when I had only electric for 6 months.
Up to you I would just get a camping stove and a gas bottle. For $150 you can get a really high end one then you just gotta refill them.

I've used both for a long time, there are clear pros and cons for electric, induction and gas.

electric - cheap up front, costly to run in KWH, has the advantage of being able to use incredibly low heat for simmers and such
induction - fast to boil water and liquids because the heat goes to the liquid inside the pan directly which is why its called induction, it makes a more efficient use of electric because it goes straight to your pan and you lose no heat in between, beyond that it is a fucking meme, not worth extra investment if you already have electric, you also lose the ability to do low heat simmers
gas - cheap to buy, cheap to run, you dont have the incredibly low heat from the electrics for simmer either, but you can go much higher heat than electric can ever offer you, plus the heat control is immediate and when you turn it down it goes down right then, you dont have to play with the lag on temperature control.

>> No.13454631

>>13454567
The one I posted is able to go from 84-490 with single degree precision, so I'd assume it'd be able to do the low temp simmering stuff, would you consider that the main drawback?

>> No.13454637

i bought a cheap induction cooker for hotpot 10 years ago and it still works.

Of gas is t an option I would go ahead and buy it. Regular electric stoves are absolute dogshit. My mother is finally reached the end of her wits with the one she has in her house and is having a gas line installed for a regular gas stove. If gas isn’t an option then induction is a good second choice.

Right. I'm going to say this straight up but make up your fucking mind already, people already told you every pro and cons for it, gave you alternative solutions and you've not answered any question asking whether you really needed something so high end.
At this point, I believe you're either a shill, a troll or a complete retard who can't even choose a pair of sock without polling half the country.

>> No.13454683

>>13454667
I didn't actually want to post the name unless asked, r.e. being asked if the high end functions are needed, I'm just debating with myself about whether I do or not at this point, or if the alternatives would make more sense. I hadn't planned on replying to the thread anymore, but saw the guy saying his main drawback with induction was the inability to do lower temperatures

>would you consider that the main drawback?
no, i consider them to be a meme if you already have an electric stove. performs exactly the same function through different mechanism. if you had nothing and you were picking one id say go ahead. but you already have electric, so you're just being a mindless irrational consumer going for something just because it is novel with no added benefits.
