As a server, I get it. In most places these retards don’t deserve to be making any more than minimum wage. IHOP, Denny’s, Chili’s all of the servers there are a bunch of entitled fuckheads and degenerates who are only dragged out of the gutter of the lower class because they became experienced in an industry where you can make more than 8 dollars an hour with tips. But as far as fine dining is concerned there is no way a restaurant owner can afford to pay the wages a properly trained and knowledgeable waiter and front of house staff deserves. I know many people on this board will never think a waiter deserves more than minimum wage regardless of what end of the industry theyre in but when you realize the entire front of house is subsidized on waiters tips (Busser, Food runner, bartender at least and sometimes hostesss/maitre d’, sommelier, and captain) then you realize it’s impossible for smaller scale restaurants to survive without tipping.
