>shepards pie

>sunday roast
>okay, we weren't too creative on this one it's just meat an potatoes

>fish and chips
>what if fish instead of meat??? oh, and did I mention potatoes were only brought over from America in the 16th century?

>blood pudding, haggis

you're telling me the foods I listed are not good? they're all very good. what about beef stew and steak pie? again it's very basic stuff but it still tastes good.

I'm telling you they might look "good" on paper, although pretty weak, but the execution is always botched due to the aforementioned reasons

whenever I make stew or shepards pie it tastes great. you can also make bad french food but that doesn't mean the cuisine isn't good.

as a brit, british food is pretty underwhelming, but its not exactly fair to present a fried egg, some black pudding and a piece of toast as THE example of british food. at least do fish and chips or a full english.
also american food is only any good because they completely embraced being fat fucks and just kept making burgers and fries. the only thing they do well is fast food. not that it isnt great or anything.

Beef stew ain't British, it's a beef stew.
Carbonade is a belgian beef stew with beer and Liege Syrup
Beef Bourguignon is a French beef stew with wine, pork belly and mushrooms
What makes your beef stew English? Boiled meat?
Sheperds pie is just a hachis parmentier.
Sausage roll is a fucking sausage in puff pastry
British blood pudding is too greasy, Portuguese, French and Belgian are way better
Fish and chips are usually bad fish and sorry chips
Sunday Roast is a fucking roast with boiled veggies

Can't say it can't be done well because other countries can actually do it right.

Those are french and belgian beef stews. British beef stew is also it's own thing and it's excellent. Shepard's pie was invented first. Sausage rolls are still good even though they're simple. I've never had greasy blood pudding, maybe you've just never had a good one. Get good fish and chips before you say the dish is awful. Sunday roast is great, tender meat with mash, yorkshire puddings, carrots and all smothered in gravy.

there are bad versions of every classic food, why pretend otherwise? you really dont see how fish fried in batter with good chips could be nice? plenty of places in the UK do it great, usually the coastal towns. obviously if you try to get it in london or something its gonna be pretty poor

ok you have 5-6 meals, two of them are snack-tier. How come there's not more?
The only good fish & chips that I had were on the continent, uk ones were greasy disgusting fish and soggy chips in newspaper.
I see how this can be well made, but I don't see brits doing it right.

hey, if you're allowed food stolen from other cultures, we have british indian food, our renditions of italian, french, german foods etc.

>philly cheesesteak
its beef, onions and cheese in a bread roll. we have that. we just didnt name it because its a fucking basic sandwich.
>eggs hollandaise
this is the equivalent of stoner food, its a few already existing foods slapped together
>clam chowder
wow so revolutionary, its a fish soup. also chowder isnt even american
>southern BBQ
meat cooked on a grill with barbecue sauce. its fucking good but its hardly a cuisine. almost every culture has their own version of bbq

He makes a perfectly valid example with cajun.
Though the original point of argument you guys have is still retarded. On the topic of brit food, however, you guys really need more pepper and salt. Some of the things I had were ridiculously unseasoned. I remember in particular a kinda puff pastry filled with cooked chicken and unseasoned bechamel.

where did you go? every country has bad cooks. it sounds like chicken pie, which is basically just chicken pot pie anyway, and either way i dont like the dish. but its not like we have some epidemic of bad cooks, some of the best chefs in the world come from the UK.
separate point is that sometimes palates are just different. for example, the west as a whole has much milder flavours than most tropical countries, they always think our food is bland because they load spices onto theirs, while the west tends to prefer to try to bring out the flavours of the ingredients instead. and american food tends to taste super sweet and overly salty to brits. a lot of it is just acclimatisation.
