Poor people are too lazy to go shopping once a week? Carrots, onions, celery, and potatoes can easily last a week. Dried beans, lentils, and rice last for years. Bread is cheap, but it's not nutritious or filling. Cheese is a luxury item. Try to find cheese for under $2 a pound. You can't. You can easily find chicken for under $2 a pound. Poor people are just shit at cooking.

My mom works at the welfare office, and the recipients don't cook. They eat fast food or prepackaged junk. Their kids don't even know what fruits and vegetables taste like. My mom is always giving the kids fruit, and they love it. Their parents are too lazy to even cut up some fruit for them.

In general, no, if you're working two jobs or juggling a job and school, you don't have the time to go to the store more than once a week, especially if you don't live really close to the store. You might go twice a month, which means when you do go, you need to consider longevity and storage, as well as how long it's going to take to cook because when you get home from working two jobs, you don't want to spend hours in the kitchen. What you really want to do is just slam something in the microwave.
You also should keep in mind that grocery stores have disappeared from the poorest places in America. For many places, the only place to buy food is a dollar store. Dollar stores don't stock a lot of fresh vegetables.

Chitty bang, on the air force bases as kids we used to smash up packets of ramen and pour the seasoning over it and shake it more then eat it like chips. Later I found out prisoners do the same thing.

Used to take white bread and mash it into a ball really hard so it was doughy and eat that. Sometimes I would dip it in w/e was around like duck sauce packets. My mom has told me she feels bad we didn't have money when I was growing up, but I slept indoors and had bread. Could have been worse.

>ate canned green beans frequently as the entire meal for dinner as a kid because shithead mother was too much of a stupid selfish lazy cunt to cook
Sad that so many people don't just give the extra few minutes to salt and slightly spice stuff like that, could be a real meal.

Horse shit since I'm in a city where there are trailer courts not far (like 5 minute drive but longer walk or bus ride) from very good grocery stores and have visited places where there are seriously poor neighborhoods not far from excellent grocery stores. Some poor people might not live within a 10-30 minute drive of a good grocery store, but plenty do.

Frito pie basically, or something similar. Chili like base, cheese and some crunchy snack crushed up on top. Some hipster places have done it up fancy around here along with the east coast taqueria phase, but fuck that. I'll do straight can chili, jar queso, and chili cheese fritos or Andy Capp hot fries.

You're a fucking tard with a fucked up fridge then I guess. I live in one of the hottest places in the US yet my veg usually lasts a week minimum (unless it's shit like beandprouts) and it's always cheap b tier shit from the Asian market that is sometimes halfway to rotten and on sale. What the fuck are you buying?
Also I was poor as shit and we couldn't afford toothpaste and shampoo past watering it down 4x before buying a new bottle most days yet my mom who worked 2 jobs (my dad died) still cooked better shit than what most welfare tards feed their children even though they get ~250+ a month (actual figures from my fuck up sister in law with 3 kids) in foodstamps. It's just being obtuse to mention shit like homeless when he's obviously referring to people with kitchens. Poverty isn't always a choice, but feeding your kids pop and Kraft mac and cheese usually is for most families. It's just not economical or tasty.

News flash buddy: the vast majority of poor people are poor because they are stupid. Personally, I believe they are a product of their environment and aren’t inherently stupid but were raised by and have only ever lived around other stupid people so it’s a vicious cycle. These people were never taught the health or dental implications of soda, fast food, tobacco, alcohol, and so on. They were never taught the concept of nutrition. They don’t know what the fuck it means to be approved for a car loan where they are fleeced at 12% because their entire world view has been reduced to some hypofrontal impulsive hellscape where financial planning is an hour-to-hour ordeal. No one taught them how to play the game so they just get raped by the system.
