local market near my high school had a deli full of old Italian and Portuguese women who made pans of stromboli for the hungry kids at lunch time.
And very simple too, some thin sliced ham, salami, cheese(moz or prov, thinking moz). Some herb and oil drizzle.
It was fucking heavenly, place is long gone now.
