IPAs have ungodly amounts of hops because it acted as a preservative when shipping beers from England to India. The style was invented for practicality, not because it tastes good. Today, American brewers have taken a liking to brewing IPAs because it’s really the easiest kind of beer to brew. All the hops covers up any imperfections in the beers’ flavor that would otherwise be noticed

If you think Craft beer is just or even primarily IPA you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. I drink Belgian style beer both from Belgium and craft breweries all the time, I drink IPAs and stouts all the time too, even some lagers occasionally. Basically what I am saying is I drink way too much beer of a very broad selection of styles. You are out of your element here

Even IPAs have become dramatically better in the last 10 years with what you call "copycats", turns out an extremely competitive and diverse market makes for really good beer

I compared it to Lagunitas - not saying they're similar, but that they're similar in quality, and I like Lagunitas a lot. Just saying Lagunitas is considered mid-shelf in California, while TH is always propped up as the most amazing thing in flyover land.

IPA: lots of hops, not very malty. Bitter, fruity from hops and high ABV.
Witbier: Belgian wheat beer (not just barley but also wheat) typically flavored with coriander and orange peel. Low bitterness.
Bière Blanche: same as Witbier.
Weißbier: German wheat beer, often creamy and sweet notes. Most typical flavors are "bready" and banana esters. Low bitterness.

The best IPAs are doubles and triples, as they have enough malts to balance out the high IBUs. A good double IPA is probably my favorite style, while the best triples are the best beers in the world, though they're literally the definition of "big beer", so not for every day drinking.
