Sounds like a retarded American definition, so it's wrong.
The difference is that pasta has to be made with durum wheat while noodles can be made out of eggs, wheat etc.

Noodles comes from german nudel. Which is defined in cambridge dictionary as: "a food in the form of long, thin strips made from flour or rice, water, and often egg, cooked in boiling liquid:" and in oxford learners dictionary as "[usually plural] a long thin strip of pasta, used especially in Chinese and Italian cooking"

In other words most pasta fall into the definition of noodles.

Cambridge defines noodles as "a food made from flour, water, and sometimes egg, that is cooked and usually served with a sauce. It is made in various shapes that have different names:" while Oxford defines it as: "an Italian food made from flour, water and sometimes eggs, formed into different shapes and usually served with a sauce. It is hard when dry and soft when cooked."

Therefore if we pretend logics can be applied to the real world, as if anything in the real world is a pure abstraction (which is impossible), pasta is a subset of noodles (pasta⊆noodles), not the other way around like this poster claims: >>13248426

A noodle is pasta that is in strips or strands (spaghetti, fettuccine, egg noodles, udon, etc.). This does not include lasagna however.

You must not eat much pasta because most of it doesn't come in the form of long strips. My favorites are stuffed pillows (ravioli) and thick curly discs (Orecchiette).
