Tipping is the dumbest shit in America. We pay food thats marked up 70% just to tip off a percentage of the percentage mark up.
Restaurant owners make insane money after the first year. Low labor, cheap ingredients sold to us as "All local, farm to table".

I'm fairly new at "good" cooking, like high end restaurant tier. I'm trying to find inexpensive hobbies to keep me busy since all I do is work, drink and ocaddionally play guitar. Recently had a scare with cancer and I want to start doing more things so when I die I don't look back on my life and think that all I really did was sit on my couch in my free time during my adult life.

I find it relaxing and satisfying when things go well but I tend to fuck up a lot of the little things (an avid chef would probably consider "big" things). I think I just need more practice, and cookware most likely.

Majority of men in history probably couldn't cook as it always has been a housewife thing passing down reciepes from mother to daughter and I am sure those men were more manly than most men today that are into cooking. I am into cooking but if you look at hobby cooks today it's mostly soiboys.
