Problem with the cheap china town places is you will get served sewer rat or squirrel meat, its traditional but I would pass.

I recommend Lahore Karahi Indian-pakistani deep in the heart of the tenderloin. The bad reviews are "its so dirty there" or "the waiter is rude", thats SF for you, the food is the best you will find and is not expensive.

You will have to dodge feces and used needles, avoid the stereotypical crackheads and learn to the switch sides of the street when you see a tent camp up ahead and youll survive, thats the real SF experience anyways.

Thats why you NEVER go to cheap places in China town. But paying a moderate price is absolutely worth it. Some no bullshit Chinese food with actual regionality. Shenzen cuisine to Manchu to all the coastal varieties of Chinese shit.

Well thats Tenderloin for you. I honestly haven't tried that place but it sounds like i should have before i moved because North Indian/Pakistani cuisine is my go-to. I found my time living in the North Bay, that Berkeley, Emeryville, and Oakland have fucking amazing paki/indian places. some of the best chaat (vegetarian casual indian food) ive had in my life is Viks Chaat in Berkeley. Highly recommend East Bay for Indian food over SF.
