I've hated beans my whole life but I want to give them a chance. Whats the BEST dish/bean can brand to try that might prove to me baked beans are actually good?

Figuring out what spices you like with them is also good. Like pepper, paprika and a bit of garlic.

The fact of the matter is that they simply aren't good. The texture is objectively offensive to the human palate. People who pretend to like them only do so in an effort to cope with being poor since beans are exclusively poorfag food. It's honestly sad.

Don't believe any of these recommendations here. No matter the brand, commercially produced baked beans will ALWAYS have flaws and more often than not it's because they're overly sweet and never have much depth of flavor. There should always be a balance between sweet, heat, and savory, but the canned products never do. If you're not going to make them yourself from star to finish, then find a canned brand you like and adjust the taste with mustard powder, hot sauce, and/or worcestershire sauce, as well as some diced green onion and/or peppers.

It really pisses me off there are so many "varieties" of fucking baked beans.
Absolutely nobody has tried these ALL of these in a blind tasting, side by side, to make a real determination which one is their preference.
So we stand there like an idiot in the grocery store, scratching our head, confused as all fuck. As if these things are fucking different at all, and struggle to pick one.
Its not a good thing in this case. Consumers want choices, but come on. Its a can of fucking beans. There is zero justification for this bullshit.

1lb great northern beans soaked overnight
1lb bacon chopped
1 onion diced
3 jalepenos seeded and minced
1 small can of tomato paste
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup black strap molasses
cayenne for extra heat if you require it
salt and pepper to taste
some kind of broth

render the bacon fat in a dutch oven, cook the onion and jalapenos in it
drain the beans and add enough broth to the liquid to make 4 cups
add the liquid and everything else to the pot and bring to a simmer
cover and stick the whole mess into a preheated 250 F oven for 6 hours. Check them for doneness

You don't need to do this in the oven you can do it on a stovetop but that's how they used to make them because you could put it in the oven and go to bed so on the sabbath you could have a hot meal

Here's the best bean recipe of all. Also, one of the simplest:

Ingredients:
1 large coarsely chopped onion
2 medium coarsely chopped tomatoes
4 finely chopped serrano peppers (w/seeds)
1 cup finely chopped cilantro
2 cups Clamato juice
2 cans of Bush's pinto beans
6 strips of bacon
1 Tbs oil (or lard)

Instructions:
Cook the chopped onion in hot oil (lard) until it begins to soften.
Add the bacon.
When the bacon starts to brown, add the beans and stir in the remaining ingredients.
Simmer for 45 minutes.

True story: I live half an hour from the big Bush's Beans factory in Chestnut Hill, TN, and drive past it on the way to work. It has a visitors center across the street from the factory. And the weird thing is, the place is always PACKED with tourists. There are even tour buses in the parking lot all the time. And keep in mind, this is half an hour away from Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg/Dollywood - actual tourist attractions with things to do there. It never ceases to make me wonder what the hell people could find so fascinating about a beans factory that it attracts so many visitors.

I guess some people just really like beans.

Refried beanz
Make them yourself though

>bake beanz w just water and salt (maybe meat of your choice but thats a complicated dish)
>grind them with milk and a soft cheese (think gruyere but dont buy actual gruyere just an example on the texture).
>melt the cheese and make em beanz into a pulp
>sieve them so only a cream remains instead of the bean shells
