You can buy a hard cheese from your local farmer. The fact that they call it parmesan should tell you they are fraud and that you shouldn't trust them though.

Parmesan is produced in Italy only. Your locally produced cheese is a "parmesan-TYPE"

Not in America. We can call it whatever the fuck we want here, this isn't Europe or Canada so we don't have those retarded regional name laws.

I've had several parmesans made in Wisconsin and they were all inferior to imported italian parmigiano reggiano in 2 respects: Too high of a moisture content and not as deep flavor. Both likely caused by insufficient aging time and being cryovac'd. It makes sense because (((american corporations))) are perfectly willing to sacrifice quality for profit. I'll stick with the import because I appreciate quality.

No we have those laws here too. California would be making champagne instead of sparkling wine then. You can call the green can stuff parmesan but not parmegiano reggiano or however you spell it.

I once watched a video about parmesan. one thing that's special about it is that they only use milk from cows in a certain region, the reason is that there's something in the grass the cows eat there, which makes it special

American artisan Parm is as good as the Italian stuff. Probably better, do you know how many million tons of that shit comes out of Italy every year? Not worth the price, there are far rarer hard cheeses which are also cheaper.
