I am a diehard chef john fan but this feels pretty low effort. He calls it a popeyes imitation but doesn't even attempt to copy the bun or pickles or even the breading. It is literally just a basic fried chicken breast sandwich filmed with decent lighting. Hope this isn't a trend.

Broke down two whole chickens for the first time and fried them this past fourth of July. It really wasn't that hard. Even forgot my cooking thermometer at home and winged it with the oil and chicken temps. Family loved it, totally rocked the gathering.

You likely don't use things like malted barley powder so you're never going to get the same browning/sweetness/texture.

You likely don't have access to an injection briner so you're not going to be able to get the spices down in the meat.

You likely don't even know to use low protein flour to prevent the chicken breading from being tough.
