For me, it's the Philly Cheese steak. The worst local 'delicacy'

cheesesteaks are delicious
i fucking hate jersey taylor ham (pork roll) sandwiches though
processed salty garbage and everyone else in jersey loves it

What is that stuff, some sort of SPAM predecessor?

At any rate, I hate how hard dicked everyone in my state gets for pepperoni rolls. It’s literally just pepperoni and sometimes cheese in some bread, I’m sure any place with Italian immigrants had something like it. Maybe we’re just desperate because the only other things West Virginia is famous for are black lung, burning couches at football games, and heroin.

God, it's the same way here in pittsburgh. "Hey do you wanna buy a room temperature pepperoni roll for $10 to support my kid's breast cancer little league fundraiser?" no fuck off

lobster roll. crappy seafood salad sandwich on boring bread. usually too small, too expensive. lobster is not that good anyway.

Dude I fuckin believe it. They want like, $8 for ones here that have been sitting on a gas station shelf for a week even though they have mozzarella and pepper jack in them. I’m shocked food poisoning hasn’t taken half of us. Thank you for mentioning Pittsburgh though, I knew this shit couldn’t exist solely here.

Chicken teriyaki in Washington state. There’s a fucking teriyaki joint every 10 feet and it all fucking tastes the same as chicken teriyaki anywhere else, even flyover country.

Literally the only time i've gotten food poisoning was a few years ago when i ate one that my MIL bought from her coworker, spent the night vomiting so hard i woke up everyone in the house. Even worse, i had churros from sheetz that day and i cant touch those again, the smell alone makes me nauseous

Even people from Philly don't eat that many cheese steaks. Anybody from there will tell you it's all about the roast pork sandwich with brocoli raab.

This. If it were just ketchup, people would say that's disgustingly American. Throw some curry powder on top, and it's a German national dish. No it's not. It's just a poor sausage drowning in ketchup.

I never saw them in north G. that often. People here still prefers sausage with mustard, Pommes, pizza, fish buns and maybe kebab. You could say Currywurst is really a local dish, and not a good one imo.

I guess I see the appeal in non coastal states where fresh seafood isnt a thing. But I live in New England and get worked into a ding-dong diddly shoot whenever "lobstah roll" season is back because we have significantly better alternatives.

To be honest, does anyone but boomers, even eat that stuff nowadays?
Even here in my city (which technically is still part of the Ruhrgebiet) I hardly see any Imbissbuden still around but tons of places were you can get a cheaper and substantially better Döner or Schawarma.
