I’m a bong currently living in a hotel in California.
I fancy a burger for lunch and across the road i have the following junk food chains:
Carl’s JR
Jack in the Box
In n Out
Habit (?)
There’s also a McDonald’s but everyone has tried that.
Which should be my first burger in the USA?

If you can be bothered, look up a good non-chain burger joint in the area. Avoid any hipster-y gastropubs or people that complicate things just to try to be unique. You'll pay a bit more but you'll get a decent tasting burger.

If you're only going to eat at a chain, go for In N Out. It's nothing magical the way locals want to pretend, but neither Carl's (bland, not much of a sear) nor Jack in the Box (salty, overly processed taste) can compete on the flavor scale.

I personally would try The Habit. In-N-Out is kind of overrated, as the meat doesn't really have any kind of string taste and the fries are kind of limp and soft unless you do "Secret Menu" bullshit.

Carl's Jr. is "DUDE WEED LMAO" fuel-tier and Jack in the Box is so bland you might as well call it fast food for old people.

Jack in the box had EBT flyers all over it and In n Out had far too many 'hispanics' in there so I went to Habit. No bad but I can get better in the UK.
I picked up a bag of pic related as I've heard so many people rave about them.
