Theres literally no reason not to add a sprinkle of MSG into every savoury dish you are cooking.

I add flecks of my doody and nobody complains but that's probably because I don't tell them and just say it's my special blend of herbs and spices.

no its not.
"every dish you are cooking" is correct.

to use "your cooking" you would say it as
>theres no reason not to incorporate MSG into your cooking.

>> No.13046144

I dont like it in eggs

>> No.13046279

i feel i should acquire some pure msg. the only way to get it here is in those spice/veggie mixes like maggi/vegeta/picantina and they have a specific flavor of their own and you start being able to taste the mix itself at some point and it feels weird and unnatural.

Idk man, I'm a pretty big fan of salt.
And since I tried replacing salt with MSG for my popcorn once, I've kind of shied away fro using my MSG every since.

It dulls the tastebud's sensitivity to flavor and you start requiring it to taste anything. This is a slippery slope you're on, my man.

Apparently it can be called Mexican coriander, but it looks nothing like cilantro and is much more robust. You can use it early on in the cooking process as opposed to cilantro which you would use at the end or just raw. It's like 10 times stronger than cilantro, too. But I don't think the non-Spanish speaking world really knows of it, so I guess they just lump it in as coriander.

>> No.13049534

Maybe it's like basil with a lot of different types and names. Same with oregano, mexican which is great in chile v. mediterranean which is better in spaghetti sauce.

It's completely different and has a stronger flavor. You can cook fresh culantro for hours and it won't lose its flavor while it's best to add cilantro at the end of cooking.

My local grocer recently stopped carrying MSG so they were selling 300g for $3, I stocked up so I won't run out for probably a couple years.
