What does $25 get you where you live?
For me, it's 6 frozen White Castle sliders, 8 krab sticks, 5 sandwiches worth of liverwurst, and a handle of vodka. And you?

Not sure what I'd do with the remaining 8. Shit like dairy is 1.20 per gallon, and eggs are about 1.10 per dozen. Veggies are local and dirt cheap.

$3 pack of chicken thighs
$1.50 2lb of rice
$1.00 2lb of beans
$1.00 3lb of onions
$1.00 2 bulb of garlic
$2.00 4lb of bananas
$3.00 3lb of apples
$1.50 2lb of spinach
$1.50 2lb of carrots
$2.50 2lb of tomatoes
$4.00 2lb of berries
$3.00 sausage

That'll get me a week of smoothies, a big-ass pot of red beans and rice, and some chicken. I could have gone eggs, and more bulk veg or starches if I was really scrimping but that's a pretty reasonable $25.

Mid-west US. Yeah, it's pretty cheap here and there are a couple of estimates on prices so I might be off by a dollar or two. But it's reasonable. It's also the cheapest varieties of everything and the most economical. Dry rice and beans, not vine tomatoes but big bland hothouse crap, not honeycrisps but the cheapest grannysmith or fuji apples they have, not baby carrots but the big dirty bastards, etc.

I usually don't stretch like that, but I thought it'd be a fun exercise and hey, maybe some college kid or poor dude will see it and be inspired with the possibilities of cheap shopping.

It's bad all over Australia when it comes to tax.
Standard 700ml bottle of 35-40% sprits is $40-45
Cheapest is maybe $30

Cheapist wine you can get is $5 and I know in other places its like $1.
They also wanted and maybe still will add a weight by g tax that makes ever 10g cost 84c meaning beer and wine get a 30% price increase and cast wine gets a 120% increase.
I don't really like wine for drinking but I use the $5-10 stuff all the time for cooking and stewing.

>> No.13037424

>>13037414
Well food is expensive but it's not because of tax.
Main problems are most people don't get pay increases equal to the rise in cost of living.
Also we have to major supermarket chains similar to Walmart and they basically can set the price of any food and get away with it.
If you don't have a small vegetable shop near you it cost way more for basic ingredients like apples in Sydney where I live cost $5.50 perkg while the shop right next door it cost $2.50 and they also have specials.

>> No.13037429

>>13037423
In Australia 10kg of ground pork would be about $120 and if it was your local butcher he would probably discount it.
Kebabs cost $12-15 each and they aren't great.

>> No.13037436

>>13037424
>major supermarket chains similar to Walmart and they basically can set the price of any food and get away with it
That's not what Walmart does. They sell the shittiest but most redneck ubiquitous garbage at a lower price point than anyone else because they have so many locations that they can buy in bulk and get discounts directly from the manufacturers that nobody else can compete with, so they basically end up putting all the local places out of business and turning a good portion of the country into nothing but Walmart, which is lowest common denominator. They won because they they're cheaper than anywhere else, but because they have so many locations they can do that and still make money. There's a lot that's great about living in America, but bullshit like Walmart being able to take over half the country is just sad as fuck; and it's not like you can blame poor flyovers for shopping at the place that offers lower prices on their coke and whatever.
