All you can eat sushi for $20
It was the mackerel.
Shit water for 12 hours.
Cried a couple times.
Drank a twelve pack of Gatorade and smoked a couple grams of wax the next day.
One of two or three nights of my life I thought I might actually die.

I got food poisoning from pizza the day before hs state championship. Slept about 3 hours but went in to school the next day for the minimum amount of time so that I could be eligible for the game. Ended up playing and at halftime had to run to the bathroom.

We lost but in played alright.

Went from mild discomfort to in the emergency room with shock in like 6 hours. I'm pretty sure it was Taco Bell I ate for lunch that day, but it happened that evening, which seems too soon for food poisoning to have occurred. Everything prior to that were meals I shared with people who were fine, so I'm still not certain what it was.

Pooped a lot of water and threw up some.

Bought some discount bratwurst in my early 20s once. Like 20 for $2. My dumb ass didn't cook them long enough and they were raw in the center. I said fuck it and ate 3 or 4. Was fine the next day. Started getting some serious stomach cramping in the afternoon though. Spent the next 3 days spraying water out both ends. Shivering, soaked in sweat and naked on the bathroom floor. I crawled into the bathtub, turned on the shower and cried

My worst was from eating a frozen dinner one morning about 3 am and then getting up about 8 am to drive to a major city about 400 miles away.

My first stop was in 50 miles. Another 30 miles to one city and had to stop three times passing through it. Another 2 or 3 stops in the next 75 miles. So in the first 150 miles, I had to stop 6 or 7 times. After that, I think I only had 3 stops in the next 250 miles.

That 400 miles took about 10 hours.

I had been intending to go fishing at a nearby lake and sleep there. Instead, I ended up getting a motel room and spent the night there.

The next day I made it to my meeting and then headed to another city about another 400 miles. This went faster with just a couple of stops, but I still felt rather queasy that night. After that, I didn't feel so bad and did about 500 miles the next day, spent the night and then 300 miles to my final destination for the trip of which about 150 miles was a sidetrip to my one of my all time favorite restaurants.

I won't even consider eating food from a convenience store.

I knew one guy a few years ago who got a burrito cooked at the local convenience store on a Sunday, ate it, and didn't get out of the hospital until Thursday.

I've also heard of employees at that store dumping the mop water out of the bucket so that they can get ice for the ice machine. I've personally seen this done at another convenience store in a small town south of Houston, Texas.

Also, one night after shoveling snow from the parking lot at the local convenience store, the employee took off his wet socks and put them in a food warmer to dry them out. There's nothing quite like seeing the employees wet socks resting next to the food you had been planning on eating.

When I was extremely sick with/from not sure what, I made myself poor man's gatorade by mixing water, salt, salt lite (potassium chloride), lemon juice, and sugar. It tasted pretty good, but I both mess up the ratios and consumed way too much. I ended up shitting my brains out far worse than I could have ever imagined. It was like I had done a massive salt water flush after days of already barely eating and experiencing constant diarrhea. I don't know if I've ever been that sick before. It came on really fast, and I couldn't stand to watch TV and was unable to read a paragraph of text for a full week. I guess that is a decent example of when you should go to the doctor, but I rode it out and was fine.

There isn't a pressing reason for most Americans to leave the country, and you can get a passport at any time. I don't think that is a big deal. I need to renew mine but don't plan on going anywhere for the foreseeable future. If I planned a last minute trip then I could go the the nearest embassy with my itinerary showing I'm leaving within 14 days and get a renewed one on the spot. It just costs more than the slower methods.

Cities in America are total shit though compared with so many other countries. The difference is often between major US cities and major foreign cities and also how nice less populated places are here.

I went to Aldi a few months ago and got these "Ultimate Chicken Skewers" with mango and lime sauce. They were frozen, and I'd had them before, so I knew they were good. The recommended time said to cook them for 40 minutes, so I did them for 60 to be SUPER SAFE.

I ate them later, and realised something wasn't right. Cut to the next morning where I almost shit myself to death. I was shitting hot liquid fire nonstop, every 30 minutes for a full day. Despite not really eating anything so FUCK KNOWS what I was shitting out.

Thank CHRIST I was already off work for a week. I had to phone my brother and ask him to bring me round some fruit. This isn't traditional food poisoning but whatever. I was 15 or so and had heard you can trip on morning glory seeds. Even though I knew the difference I somehow made the dumbass mistake of collecting a bunch of clematis seeds and eating them. For the next few hours I felt like I was literally going to die, intense burning stomache pains, sweating likr a pig and incredible nausea. Eventually I fell asleep half hoping I would die it all felt so terrible. Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done.

I had food poisoning twice in college. Both times, it was on steak night.

The first time was in a military style dining hall with one seating and waiters bringing the food out to you. Many people got food poisoning that night.

The second was in a normal dining hall where you walked in any time they were open and got your food. The next morning, the clinic was packed with people.

They took us about 20 or 30 at a time, verified that we all ate at the same dining hall the night before, and gave us some kind of medicine. (That's the only time I ever had a group medical consult.) From talking to others there and in the dorm, those who got sick all went into the dining hall to eat in about a 15 minute window and ate the corn. If they didn't eat the corn, they didn't get sick. If they went in earlier or later, they didn't get sick.

Don't know either, but it happened again, also Sauerkraut and also before a trip (no planes though). And my third food poisoning was when I was in the US and finally got to try the famous, shitty pizza hut.
And I once had norovirus, that was much worse (lying in bed, every single muscle cramped up so hard that I was in utter agony, just screaming and crying, which I could eventually turn into an "callaaaaaaaaanaaaaaaaaaaambulance, IIIIIIIIIIII'm dyyyyyyyyyyying!!!!!" wailing), so I'm convinced those three times it was only food poisoning.
