Just look up a recipe for osso buco.
It's delicious and takes zero effort. You simply cannot go wrong with a nice stew.

Got some lined up for osso buco myself next week. It's finally braising season.
Don't forget to scoop out the marrow and have it on a piece of toast about halfway through the cooking process.

>> No.13019058

ossobuco is basically the best and i'd be surprised if someone bought it without knowing what to do with it
just whatever you do do NOT bbq it, the marrow is the best part
I like to do sort of a baked stew with mine with some butter on top in a bed of onions and carrots

I really hate what guga is slowly becoming now that he's run out of real content
though it was a little refreshing to see angels usual puppydog excitement turn to hatred and disgust

too many people in the comments section begging him to do stupid shit with extremely cheap meats

A shank? You have to slow cook that shit, it's not a steak

Thanks that was the plan anyway, I was just curious to see what others would have done.

for people with limited incomes who are just starting out with cooking, a well known person with an established reputation demonstrating with ingredients that are within reach can mean the world

he already did a lot of recipes that are cheap to make if you look at his older videos, most of which have under 50k views
it's not that he's catering to new cooks, it's that he's catering to fans who will never cook, I don't really blame him since $$$ but I don't like it either
to some extent i'd say even he hates it, his attempt to debunk the question of 'why don't you add fat to cheap meat' was done in a really dumb way, he could have rendered it down and kept it marinating sous vide, keeping suet liquid is fairly simple and what he did was closer to dabbing whipped cream on a cake instead of putting cream into a cake

Pan sear, onions, wine and finish in the oven. Serve with potatoes or something.

You can mix and match veggies and spices as you please of course, but osso buco is a very solid starting point for braised veal shank. And you do want to braise that cut.
