I like saltly licorice from Iceland and Sweden, but hate the Dutch stuff. I like stroopwafles, but the only other thing I really remember about Dutch cuisine is this Indonesian restaurant where they laid a bunch of dishes out on the table in order of how spicy they were and my mom and I were basically just eating the bread (which still had chilies in it).

Depends on how you eat things, growing up I was served pic related style; drowned in gravy. I disliked that a lot.
On a chilly fall day stampot is the best and green pea soup is godlike.

>The modest and plain look of what is nowadays considered the traditional Dutch cuisine, appears to be the result of a fairly recent development. In the twentieth century, the new availability of mass education meant that a great number of girls could be sent to a new school type, the Huishoudschool (housekeeping school), where young women were trained to become domestic servants and where lessons in cooking cheap and simple meals were a major part of the curriculum, often based on more traditional Dutch dishes, and leading to increased uniformity in the Dutch diet. Values taught in that school system included frugality, proper table manners, and healthy eating

Good sausages, like Metworst and Rookworst
Rye Bread
Gouda, Edam
good butter
Jenever (Jin)
Advocaat (Egg Nog)
Kibbeling, Herring (soused herring the original Deenz)
Oliebol and Stroopwaffel
Hachee

It's a sturdy cuisine, unpretentious and hearty. Oh and they got a lot of Indian cuisine too for the same reason England does.

Never had it but I assume it is simple and hearty and there are some good comfort food type dishes.

Dutch cheese is good, though.

Unironically the worst cuisine I've ever encountered. I see fucking adults eat shit like this on the horrible tissue paper you call bread for breakfast and lunch every day.
