Today when I was eating my lunch I realized something. I fucking love salmon, it is fucking amazing.

It's not very accommodating to being over-cooked, and is one of the worst canned fish. Otherwise it's okay. I prefer a dozen other things for sushi, and will go with smoked trout over smoked salmon pretty much every day of the week.

Basically all of the waste of these fishes is concentrated, making it a hazard. Your typical fish farm is out in the ocean or near a river outlet. You’re going to have a few thousand fishes in an area that is 4 -8dquare miles. That’s a Fuck ton of waste concentrated in a small area. Natural thing to do is pump them full of antibiotics. However that makes the bacteria more resistant over time. So now you have a body of filthy water full of super bugs. Since wild fish will interact with this area of water, they’ll invariably get sick. Since they’re not being fed a steady diet of antibiotics, they’ll be decimated.

Good quality farmed salmon is excellent, but the flake is softer than wild salmon. It’s also fattier than most wild salmon.
