So what's your experience with importing food? I want to buy some Halloween snacks from Japan but right now am still shopping around; I'm trying to decide between using Candysan or Rakuten.

It's cheaper to just get a Jap friend to send it in the mail. Plus you can have them make selections.

I had a Japanese snack box subscription ~4-5 years ago and made regular threads about it. I wouldn't recommend it at all. There's a few things that are unique at first, and some fun things, and the occasional really weird thing (tomato hard candies were my favorite), but after a couple of months you'll realize that all Japanese snacks taste pretty much the same and the $20 you're spending for $6 worth of junk food just isn't worth it.

Go to a nearby city and shop around, dollars to donuts there's a Japanese market or a Korean market that has all that stuff so you don't have to deal with importing it youself.
Here are a couple...

You'll also get killed by the shipping fees. If you want to get a few 50 packs of dumplings for instance you'll pay more in shipping than you will if you import it though you didn't mention where you are. If you're in the USA, order from one of those places I mentioned and at least it's just internal shipping.

Definitely don't get pic you posted. It's literally the same snack as the regular one, only repackaged with a Halloween themed box. They don't even bother changing the shape of the corn to a ghost or jack-o-lantern.

Imported some CC Lemon once. Fucking Hell, that is a great soda I will never get to try again unless Amazon has mercy on my soul.

Update: Welp, no mercy. Amazon is selling cans but like 150-200 USD for 12 cans.

Probably cheaper to try find an Asian food market/store local to you

Snacks are mediocre, wherever they come from. Imported ones will be the same "less than satisfying experience", you'll pay more for it and it will have a more important carbon imprint.
Just buy your snacks anon.

UK here. My local shops have started selling cans of US 'soda' for about a quid a go.
It's stuff like 'Grape Fanta' and such like, but it's fucking impossible to tell if they are suitable for vegetarians or not.
The coca cola website just tells you to check the product page, but the product page doesn't explicitly state if they are or not. You would have to know the source of each individual ingredient.
Don't you cunts just have a simple fucking symbol system over there?

Mate, seriously? Do they not list the ingredients on the side?

>> No.12937684

>>12937675
It's not enough to list ingredients.
If it were to list 'whey' for example, would you know if that was suitable for vegetarians or not? It's impossible without having access to the suppliers.

No, we're not all faggots in the USA and wont suckup to britfags though that's almost reduntant since you can't even execute brexit. Now go whine to your grandma Merkel, shall I call in the whambulance for you?

So order it from the Japan Amazon instead then since they ship anything sold by Amazon to other countries.

Thanks, frien!

I guess because it's quite well liked somebody had been buying it up in bulk and reselling in the US for ridiculous markups. Kind of like what they did with those 'One Chip Challenge' Paqui chips.

Yeah that's the same reason I checked the JP site. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to use a proxy to order from there but it turned out that Amazon ships to other countries so it was a lot cheaper.

Japan makes their own kitschy Halloween snacks now? that's oddly cute. I'm glad it's catching on over there, for some reason. I guess it's one of my country's more wholesome cultural exports.
