What is the absolute dirt-cheapest non-offal meat and what is the best way to cook it?

>> No.12916378

Rats.
Eat them raw because, hey, you reached rock bottom anyway, so what do you care anymore?

Price depends on locations. I found a store that basically takes the stuff the larger cities is too stocked on so is often half price bulk sales on meats that are pristine. Pork and chicken are usually the cheapest thing in America, formerly unwanted cuts are now ruined by hipsters making pale imitations of ethnic food they saw on youtube.

Now finish your dream king of heroes.

Chicken, lowest I've seen whole chicken and dark meat is 0.59$, lowest I've seen breast around 0.65-80$. lowest I've seen pork butt/roast/shoulder is 0.69$, I stock up when it goes on sale and freeze it for tamales or slow cooker recipes. Lowest I've seen pork ribs is 0.89$, I'm in California and waiting for sales is the key. Each sale comes back ever 1-3 months so don't need to stock to much. This is all at food for less/Kroger btw

You can get a whole rotisserie chicken for like $5 in a lot of places. Already cooked and spiced up for you.

Why's a whole rotisserie chicken cost 5 bucks, but an uncooked one cost like 6-7?

>> No.12918111

Some people say that they make rotisserie chickens out of unsold chicken they'll have to throw out.

Eggs, just eat them straight out of the chicken, or turtle.

It's almost surely going to be chicken wings or drumsticks.
In some places it might be thigh, minced beef or pork shoulder.
Easiest way will likely be coat in a few spices & oil and roast in a pan for 45 minutes.

It's a loss leader. Same with milk and eggs. It's cheap enough to bring people into the store and then also buy higher-margin items while they're there.
