Are mandolines actually useful?

>> No.12914478

>>12914330
Yes, great for cutting your self.

>> No.12914491

Elastic band your cucumber to your penis before you start cutting. Your hips are the most efficient stroker.

>> No.12914492

>>12914330
I want one, but don't buy one because I'm sure I'm going to hurt my self with it.

You can't not take off fingertips. I use knives because they're safer and nearly as fast.

>> No.12914542

>>12914492
I've used 'em and haven't cut myself, but have known someone who sliced off a thumbtip.
Protip: Don't be greedy with whatever you're cutting. Cut down to halfway and then take it slow. When you can't comfortably grip it, call it quits.

A knife's better for pretty much everything anyway.

>> No.12914601

fuck mandolins
you ever see someone with a missing palm?
theres a lot more exposed tendons than I expected and they were all cut into

>> No.12914605

>>12914492
Just take it slow and ALWAYS use the hand guard. If it doesn't come with a hand guard then it's a shitty mandolin.

You must be retarded.

I know you're memeing about the spelling, but it's actually really easy to cut yourself on string instruments if the string snaps.

They're great, but just like any good kitchen tool, treating them like a toy will end up with your ass having no fingertips. Use the guard or a cut resistant glove.

>> No.12914655

Fuck those things.
Use a knife. Literally no reason to add the extra risk and extra safety steps.

If you use one of those things, just leave an inch or two of the veg before stopping.

I hate admitting it but I absolutely hate using most graters and microplanes because of shit like this

though I hate cleaning the box ones even more, pain in the ass pointless shit, you never use more than one side of the four, maybe once before you replace the damn thing and you expect me to jam my big hands in that tiny box every time I want some damn cheese?

ones like pic related arent bad though
