Different types of feed create different colored shells, not being 'local'. they're identical otherwise, except the texture and yolk color are different the fresher they are. I've had eggs literally laid within minutes of my eating them and I wouldn't be able to tell them apart in a blind taste test.

Black chickens are unironically more aggressive than white or brown ones in my experience.

The yolk colour can also be altered by giving them feed high in beta carotenes or feeding them paprika so yolk colour is not an accurate indicator of quality. Yolk colour is a way gullible consumers are tricked into paying more for eggs because the yolk is more orange and therefore they perceive it to be “better” when in actuality its just the composition of the feed.

My local supermarket started charging a dollar more for carton than white eggs, and there's no way I'm paying such a huge mark up.

>Different types of feed create different colored shells,

Nope.

Some breeds of chicken lay brown eggs and some lay white eggs. A very few breeds lay eggs of other colors.

Anyway, the breeds that lay brown eggs tend to do better than the breeds that lay white eggs in the more northern climates while the breeds that lay white eggs tend to do better in the south.
